The Queen’s Dubbonet Cocktail
This is a classic cocktail, and one of my absolute favourites! If you’re a gin lover and you haven’t tried this yet.... you need to make this right now! Get out your finest gin, some lemon and a bottle of Dubbonet...
This cocktail has been around for a long time, and is said to be a favourite of Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother. Originally a twist on the classic gin martini, the Dubbonet cocktail replaces vermouth with Dubbonet, a sweet aperitif made from fortified wine and various spices.
This will make one cocktail
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 shots of London dry gin
1 1/2 shots Dubonnet Rouge
1 wheel of lemon, and a tiny squeeze of juice
Ice
INSTRUCTIONS
In your serving glass of choice, fill with ice (I prefer large whiskey ice cubes) and then add Dubonnet and gin. Give it a good stir until the glass is chilled and the drink is thoroughly mixed.
Squeeze the lemon to release some juice then drop it into the glass and enjoy!
