Coffee Choc Chip Swirl Ice Cream
Updated: Jun 30, 2020
This easy icecream is tiramisu inspired; rich and velvety vanilla cream swirled with dark chocolate, cocoa and coffee! This flavour combo is a total fail safe crowd pleaser, and this recipe takes less than 30 minutes to make. Make the ice cream at least 4 hours ahead of a dinner party and your guests will be seriously impressed by the deliciously creamy (and no fuss!) ice cream you’ve created!
This recipe will serve 8 people.
INGREDIENTS
For the ice cream base:
½ a 397g can of sweetened condensed milk
600mLs of double cream
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
For the tiramisu swirl:
200 grams of dark chocolate, roughly chopped
1/4 cup of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of dried instant coffee, crushed into a powder
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the condensed milk, cream and vanilla extract into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. (Alternatively you can use a large bowl and a handheld electric mixer).
Beat the mixture of medium speed until thoroughly incorporated, and the cream is thick and stiff.
Spoon half of the mixture into a freezer-proof container, then sprinkle over half the chocolate pieces, cocoa and coffee powders. Spoon the remaining cream mixture on top then sprinkle over the last of the chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Using a spoon, drag and fold it through the mixture a couple of times to create a rippled effect.
Cover the ice cream mixture in cling wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours (or until solid). Please enjoy!
